Lenten Devotional, Day 19: Very Brief Addendum
Dear Saints,
The Scriptures for the 3rd Sunday in Lent: Exodus 17:1–7, Psalm 95, Romans 5:1–11, John 4:5–42.
On Sundays I have been sending the Scriptures alone. So please accept this slight comment as a catchup from previous days.
PSALM 95 AGAIN:
My conviction of God's Word as living, dynamic, forever makes it no problem to soak in the Passage — is it 5 days in a row? But human me was ready for a change. I sat with it and listened anyway.
I didn't see it before, though hardly subtle. Notice the abrupt transition within V.7. That in a sense was the default for Mary & Martha from yesterday (rf. Luke 10:38–42). Mary took V.7a; Martha took V.7b.
One more thought: Maybe that difference cannot always be detected outwardly. I've noticed I can "stray in heart" (Psalm 95:10) with my feet firmly upon the path. Something to think about.
For EGCers I'm not beyond a sermon teaser, calling it: Repentance: Essential & Dangerous.
IN CHRISt,
